CabinClarity — lake research for Minnesota & Wisconsin.

Last updated September 9, 2026

1Overview

CabinClarity ("we", "us") is a lake-research app for Minnesota and Wisconsin. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect as little as possible. We have no ads, no trackers, and no analytics SDKs — a lake-home search is personal, and your data shouldn't become the product.

2Information we collect

Account data. If you sign in, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from your sign-in provider (Google, and Apple if you use it). Apple private-relay addresses are stored exactly as the provider returns them.

Lake preferences. Favorites (saved lakes), score weights, map and appearance preferences, and your saved home location (chosen by you — a lake, address, or point on the map). These sync to your account so they follow you across devices.

Device location. The app asks for location permission only when you tap "Use my current location." We use it once, in the moment, to find lakes near you — the raw coordinates are used transiently by the lake-search request and are not stored in your account. You can deny the permission and use the app fully without it.

Realtor mode. If you enable "I'm a realtor" and fill out your profile, that information (name, brokerage, contact) is used to sign the lake reports you share and is displayed to people viewing them.

3How we use it

To provide the app: show your synced favorites and preferences, power "lakes near me" searches, remember your map and score settings between visits, and stamp shared reports. To operate and secure the service: we keep standard server logs (including IP address) for abuse prevention and troubleshooting. To communicate: if you contact us, we use your email to reply.

4Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We don't share it with advertisers, brokers, or data brokers. Aside from legal and safety requests (see §6), the only scenario where your information could reach a third party is a feature you may explicitly choose in the future: an opt-in "get matched with a local agent" referral, where your contact details would be shared with exactly one agent after your explicit consent. That feature is not yet available; when it launches, we'll update this policy and ask for your consent first.

5Sign-in providers

Signing in with Google or Apple connects your account to those providers' own privacy practices, which govern the data they process (we receive only your name, email, and photo). We only use the sign-in to authenticate you — we do not post on your behalf and do not create a social profile.

6Data retention, deletion & your choices

We keep account data while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from the app's Settings → Account → Delete account , which removes your sign-in, favorites, and preferences. You can also email us at [email protected] and we'll process the request within 30 days. You can additionally: review and edit your preferences in Settings at any time; sign out to stop syncing (local data stays on your device until you delete the app); and delete the app to remove local data. For records we must retain (e.g. abuse-prevention logs), we keep only what's required and disconnect it from your account.

7Children

The app is intended for adults and isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.

8Security & changes

Account data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored on servers we control. We protect it with reasonable technical measures but can't guarantee absolute security. If this policy changes materially, we'll update the date above and, for significant changes, notify you in the app. California residents: we don't sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined by CCPA/CPRA. Questions: [email protected].
